Outpatient Treatment for Addiction and Mental Health Disorders

Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center provides support and guidance for adults (18 and up) and children and adolescents (ages 5 to 17) dealing with addiction and mental health disorders. Our intensive outpatient programs lay the groundwork for long-term recovery and help you or your loved one transition back to the home, school or community.

Why Choose Us?

Our outpatient rehab programs offer:

  • No-cost assessments: Our facility is open 24/7 to provide no-cost assessments. Our experienced clinicians provide an immediate evaluation and recommend the right level of care (inpatient, intensive outpatient or outpatient) for your unique needs.
  • Specialized treatments: We are among only a few facilities in Broward County offering transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). These stimulation therapies offer new hope to people with medication-resistant depression.
  • More ways to pay for care: Financial limitations shouldn’t prevent you from getting the care you need. We accept most major commercial insurances, as well as Medicare and managed Medicaid. We also offer financial assistance for qualifying patients.

Intensive Outpatient Versus Outpatient Treatment

At Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center, we offer several levels of care to meet people where they are in their recovery. Many people begin their journey with detox and stabilization at our short-term inpatient program. Next, they step down to outpatient treatment for drug addiction, alcohol abuse or mental health disorders.

The type of outpatient therapy you need depends on your condition and needs. We offer:

  • Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs): IOP is the next step for many people after inpatient treatment. It can be an alternative to residential treatment, providing a higher level of care than general outpatient treatment. IOP is a structured, part-time program that requires several hours of group individual therapy for three to four days per week. Our adult IOP program is in-person, while our IOP for teens is virtual.
  • General outpatient clinic: Our outpatient clinic is less intense than IOP. It typically involves individual, family or couples counseling once or twice per week. You’re free to schedule outpatient sessions to fit your schedule. Outpatient care is ideal if you have completed IOP or have mild to moderate substance use or mental health disorders. Our adult outpatient clinic services are in-person; adolescent services are virtual.

Virtual Mental Health Treatment for Teens

Our virtual IOP for teens provides online counseling and support for adolescents (ages 13 to 17). Your child receives the same high level of care as in-person treatment, with the added convenience and flexibility of telehealth.

Program participants address their treatment needs in a group therapy setting. The program is held virtually on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For more information, please call our IOP department at 954-734-2057.

  • Initial psychiatric evaluations
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Couples therapy
