Understanding Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a severe mental health disorder categorized by auditory and visual hallucination, disintegration of thought processes, paranoia, and disorganized speech and thought. These symptoms are often accompanied by social and occupational dysfunction.
Symptoms normally appear during young adulthood and continue to occur throughout life. The disorder affects men and women equally in all ethnic groups, although the onset of symptoms usually occurs earlier for men.
Several factors may contribute to the development of schizophrenia including environment, brain chemistry, and genetics.
Symptoms of Schizophrenia:
- Hallucinations
- Delusions
- Trouble thinking logically
- Agitated body movements
